Title X Funding Change is Part of Trump Administration’s War on Women and Women’s Health Care

Washington, DC – In response to the Trump Administration’s announced changes to Title X funding, Health Care for America Now Co-Directors Ethan Rome and Margarida Jorge released the following statement:

“This change to Title X funding that will restrict the care, advice and referrals physicians can provide is just the latest in a relentless effort by the Trump Administration to undercut women’s health care and interfere with women’s reproductive health decisions. From pushing for Affordable Care Act repeal bills that would have stripped access to birth control and affordable maternal health care to allowing insurance companies to charge women more for sham insurance that fails to cover basic care, this administration continues to make it harder for women to access the care they need. We should be working to improve access to affordable, quality health care for everyone, not looking for new ways to take it away. Undermining reproductive health care is an attack on women’s economic security.”

Health Care for America Now (HCAN) is the national grassroots coalition that ran a $60 million five-and-a-half year campaign from 2008-2013 to pass, protect, and promote the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and protect Medicare and Medicaid. HCAN has come back together to fight the Republicans’ all-out effort to take away America’s health care and put people at the mercy of the health insurance companies again.
