Supreme Court Rejects GOP Delay Tactics, Now They Must Uphold Obamacare
Washington, DC – In response to the Supreme Court’s decision to expedite consideration of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) lawsuit, Health Care for America Now Executive Director Margarida Jorge released the following statement:
“We are pleased that the Supreme Court rejected President Trump and his Republican allies’ delay tactics. With the Affordable Care Act in danger, millions of Americans simply cannot continue to wait anxiously to see if they will lose their insurance or face increased costs because of pre-existing conditions, arbitrary life-time limits or being priced out by insurance companies charging whatever they want.
“The court must now reaffirm its previous decisions to uphold the ACA as the law of the land and curtail future partisan efforts to dismantle, overturn or weaken the law that 20 million Americans depend on for health care and hundreds of millions depend on for key protections from insurance industry abuses. The last three years have shown us that Trump and Republicans will stop at nothing to take away coverage and put insurance corporations back in charge of our families’ health. The court acts as an impartial check on legislative and executive actions that sabotage the ACA and undermine security millions of American families who rely on the ACA to survive.”
