GOP Tax Plan Follows Same Morally Repugnant Principle As Health Care Repeal

Trump’s Tax Plan Threatens Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security

Health Care for America Now co-directors Ethan Rome and Margarida Jorge released the following statement in response to President Trump’s tax plan:

“Just one day after Trump and the GOP suffered a stunning defeat on health care repeal, they’ve overreached again with a tax plan based on the same morally repugnant principle — take from the many to give to the few.

“The Trump-McConnell-Ryan tax plan isn’t tax reform — it’s a tax heist. It will force deep cuts in Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and other critical services to give huge tax breaks to millionaires, billionaires and big corporations.

“This reckless and irresponsible plan won’t create jobs or improve our economy, but it will worsen America’s growing income inequality crisis, which is eliminating the middle-class and denying millions and millions of Americans the opportunity for a better life.”

Health Care for America Now (HCAN) is the national grassroots coalition that ran a $60 million five-and-a-half year campaign from 2008-2013 to pass, protect, and promote the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and protect Medicare and Medicaid. HCAN has come back together to fight the Republicans’ all-out effort to take away America’s health care and put people at the mercy of the health insurance companies again.
