I began to have severe pain in my jaw, it would radiate up into my head and was worse when I would yawn, chew, sneeze and even smile. No position for sleeping was comfortable and I felt all around horrible.
My doctor was shocked when I showed up with a jaw that was locked and could barely open. I had lost over 25 pounds in less than 6 weeks. It is amazing how much weight you lose when the thought of opening your mouth prevents you from eating. My doctor referred me to an oral surgeon who specializes in tempomandibular joint disorders (Yes, a TMJ disorder secondary to excessive stress.
The oral surgeon said I would need realignment therapy. X-rays, full assessment, a mouth appliance to get my jaw back in alignment. All for the low low cost of just $3800.00!! Oh, by the way the insurance that you pay over $380/month isnt going to cover a dime of it! I am a 36 year old female non smoker with no medical problems except this...MEGAHEALTH insurance is the one laughing all the way to the bank. HELP!!!
