I am 60 years old and self-employed with a small business. I had cancer 15 years ago, was treated, and had no occurance. Nevertheless, I cannot buy any medical insurance that will cover me for any type of cancer. I have an expensive high deductible policy for other illnesses, but I'm one skin, colon, or other cancer from bankruptcy.

In addition, I recently learned from a life insurance policy medical exam that I have some damage to my heart from my chemo therapy treatment. Because of that, if I tried to get a new medical policy, I no doubt would have an exclusion for cancer and heart issues.

Likewise my 59 year old wife had back surgery 10 years ago, and has no coverage for any back problems. A reoccurrence or new back problem would leave her disabled or us bankrupt from treatment costs.
