I have a college age child and when he had a less than full load semester he was asked to pay over $900 a month by bcbs of nc for individual premiums. He is adhd/ld and heavy, he is watched for pre hypertension. But he has not had any major hasptalizations and gets about one/ two office visits a year. He quit the meds long ago.
So yes he can get insurance but we would not have living costs covered. So he would be a
public assistance case if there was a major illness should he meet some eligibility regs or file bankruptcy.
These are alternatives????????????
