I am a 68 year old disabled veteran - had to go 19 months without access to a docter for pain and swelling in one leg because VA could not give me an appointment and when they did the doc told me i was just getting old! After fighting with them for months more I finally got a referral for a second opinion and an MRI just last week!!!!!
Civilian doc told me older vets are increasingly ignored and put off by VA because of the influx of Iraq vets - yet I can not use medicare because of my entitlement to VA --- talk about a Catch 22
