Just in the past six months, my main doctor is now requiring a five hundred dollar a year "retainer" EVERY YEAR. This is to make up in some part for reduced and untimely Medicare reimbursement.
My gynecologist sent me a letter which I received today telling me that he will no longer accept Medicare insurance payment. Payment must be in full at time of service and he will supply info for me to fill out my own Medicare forms for reimbursement to me.
For me this is bad enough, but how does an elderly person who is ill or confused deal with this? Having others help ,in some cases, is leaving the system open to more abuse, both deliberate and accidental. What a disgrace that we are the only first world country that does not provide health care for its citizens. We spend more than most and get less.
