I belive my story is the same story that many uninsured, working adults share. I delay any medical attention as long as possible, desperately searching for home remedies and over the counter cures for illnesses that could probably be affectively addressed in a doctor's office. The solution may be there, but the doctor wants to be paid in full at time of services, which leaves no ready cash for prescription medications. Casual trips to a physician are not an option for the uninsured -- they are a luxury. Small problems become large problems that result in insurmountable medical expenses which, in turn, only add to the problem by creating new difficulties that are the direct result of stress. I've heard many people protest the abortion laws, but how is that procedure any different from letting an adult experience a lingering, slow death simply because he or she could not afford all that is needed to stay alive? I have been cutting blood pressure medications in half for six months now, simply because the cost is prohibitive.
