Been paying for hospital expenses for 3 months premature birth of my youngest son for over 23 years... and still not paid off.

I have paid as little as $10 monthly to $100 monthly when I had it.

I had surgery approved by employers health plan...scheduled a few weeks later... then refused after the surgery because I was terminated before surgery took place... I paid on that one for 15 years.

Youngest son hit by auto at age 14... and had over $10k out of pocket expenses beyond what BCBS paid.

Over the years... different collectors wanted me to declare bankruptcy... refinance my home to pay off premature birth debt.

I will be 60 on my next birthday... not saved much for retirement... I just hope to be able to work long enough to have it paid off before I die.

He's a great kid... would not want to burden him.
