We have good health care, but we have a special needs daughter with severe mental illness problems. Her mental health costs have cost us thousands and thousands out of pocket. We know that most mental health costs are NOT paid or are paid at half or less by insurance. We finally had to give our daughter's care over to the state in order to be sure she continued to have health care. We are still left with many thousands of dollars of bills. That should not happen in our wonderful country. We pray that our country will realize the terrible burden placed on individuals who are mentally ill and their loved ones. They have more than just the mental illness stigma; they are faced with financial ruin. Be sure you insist that mental illness is covered co-equally with physical illness.
