Auto accidents, of which were not my fault, have made me uninsurable due to "pre-existing" conditions. Because of this I have gone to alternative medicine and studied herbal medicine. I have learned much over the years; I can control my pain with herbal anti-inflammatories and nervines as opposed to addicting pain-killers. Health insurance companies do not cover alternative medicine and certainly not herbal medicine. I want universal coverage, but I also want alternative medicine included, like it is in Germany. It is more cost effective and allows for healing of the whole body, not just covering up symptoms that get worse and eventually cost the society more.
We need a health care system that addresses HEALTH, not Dis-ease care. I do not want to limit myself to prescription drugs that have un-healthy side effects. I want a health care system that addresses healthy eating, to rid the society of easily avoided diseases such as diabetes, allergies, cholesterol and yes even heart disease and cancer. There is a lot of clinical studies and thousands of years of historical of non-invasive herbs used - but these do not hold the obscene profits for large drug companies. Modern medicine has its place, for sure, but not as a first line of treatment.
