I do have health care that I can count on. For the first time in my life. But it is always at risk of being changed by the government, and not every medical practioner will accept it. It is rare to find a dentist who will. I know of none.
I have Medicare and Medicaid. I am sad that home care workers who come to help me (now for only six hours a month because those funds have been cut)---people who are very important---do not have any health insurance. Generally they make a little too much to qualify for Medicaid.
I am in favor of extending Medicare to everyone, with enough changes in fees and co-pay to lessen the goverbment expense. I would like to see truly rich people taxed specifically for this purpose. A single payer system would save by abolishing the layers and variety of paperwork that now weigh down medical practices. I know that this is only a dream, but it is one toward which we should move.
