My story, interwoven with with that of my wife, is, unfortunately, not unique. Our retirement income is approx. $30k. We spend approx $900 per month on medical. At ages 72 and 73 we cannot be without. Medicair, supplemental insurance and Part D and misc stuff, for the two of us, comes to approx $900. That represents about 1/3 of our income. With high energy cost and soaring price of food, I wonder how long before we will be forced to drop the Supplemental in order to eat. I am sure there are a lot of people in the same position. I am seriously thinking of running for congress where I would have, "THE BEST HEALTH CARE IN
THE WORLD", paid for by the taxpayers who are wondering where their next co-pay is coming from.
