My parents had both been members of Kaiser's program for the last 40 years. My father during his 60s began to experience chest pains. We took him to Kaiser more than a dozen times. They were extremely reluctant to do any testing and suggested that my father was a hypochondriac. He has always been the type of person to be very reluctant to complain of any physical pain. Kaiser very ruluctantly did some tests and found that one of his arteries was completely block but had found a natural alternate course!!?? Another artery was 60% block and they would not provide any further treatment until it was 75% blocked. My parents eventually switched insurance companies and went to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale for a thorough checkup. The doctors stated that he was on the verge of a fatal heart attach and completed a dual bypass the following day. He is still alive thanks to these doctors.

My mother's story is somewhat similar yet less dramatic. She kept requesting for about 9 months an exam because she was experiencing intestinal pain. She finally obtained the exam and the doctor informed her that she had cancer in her lower intestines and it may have eaten through the intestinal wall. She had surgery very quickly and has remained well to this day.
