My husband suffered a serious illness three years ago and is still recovering. During this time, I saw clearly how insurance companies are holding us hostage. These are the people who made the decisions about my husband's care. They kept pressuring doctors to discharge my husband against the doctors' professional judgment. How did this happen? When did we give insurance companies power over life and death?
There is also a lot of fraud going on with Medicare. Insurance companies are tricking senior citizens into give up regular Medicare for Medicare Advantage programs. These companies get older people to sign by telling them they "will get additional services." They don't mention the fact that the individual will no longer be able to choose his own doctors or hospitals. Is it true that health insurance sales people are paid $800 - $1000 for every person they sign up for Medicare Advantage? Why would the federal government even allow such a thing?
Let's get insurance companies out of the health care business. It's time for another "American Revolution."
