Two years ago, the company I work for decided that it was too expensive to continue with the HMO coverage that we'd had for years. They opted for a PPO plan with a $2100 deductible for singles and a $4200 deductible for couples/families. Outrageous! So, now instead of being able to see a doctor and pay $35 for the office visit, I must pay the full "network cost" for the visit. An office visit to clean a knife wound (kitchen accident) which didn't require stitches cost me $245! Of course, it took every penny out of my checking account and now I won't go to the doctor for anything else any more - I can't afford it. It shouldn't be that way.
