I have had private insurance and MassHealth. let me tell you, MassHealth has WAY better coverage than does any private insurance carrier I've seen. The comprehensive quality of the insurance is impressive, as are the low copayments. I would love to be able to BUY into MassHealth's Class I coverage with its very low copays and excellent coverage--I can even get glasses from select opticians, unlike most private insurances which don't even HAVE vision care. I am going to MISS my MassHealth once I get back to work. I just wish I could pay into it, even at a fairly high premium because I feel like I would not have to worry about corporate greed, medical bankruptcy and the rest of the rubbish that goes with private insurance. I think Medicaid should be able to be purchased by those who are middle class and even affluent. I think that by making Medicaid available for EVERYONE without idiotic private health insurance getting involved, people would have MORE choices in health care! The rich and middle class customers of Medicaid would help subsidize it for the poor and best of all, everyone would benefit from the excellent coverage that the poor already enjoy. Also, I would be happy to be part of the funding equation for Medicaid, even if I become very wealthy in the future! I'd rather help a poor person get quality coverage than feed a greedy private company that's up to no good. It's time to do this, and do it now!!
