Only in America would people tell you, its your fault if you can't afford heath care and your fault if you go into deep debt because of health care. It could be a car accident not of your doing. They always like to point out "worst case" scenario, like obese people, chain smokers and heavy "adult beverage" drinkers.
I went to hospital recently and for a 15 mins diagnosis which included peeing in a cup to find out just what was wrong, I was charged with a $500 bill!
Holy Cow, how is that even possible?
Okay later they dropped it to $150 because I had no health care coverage (because I can't afford it), but still! In Britain, I could have seen the doctor for free (out of my taxes) and paid given the exchange rate about $9 for my meds, when they cost me $45 from a local CVS store. I also could have gotten paid for the gallon of gas I used to go back and forth.
The US is a nation with a serious GREED problem that I see no end in sight too anytime soon.
My solution?
Marry a Scandinavian and live in Denmark!
