Make health care a priority in the next debate!

America is in trouble. Costs are rising for working families faster then their wages. Our economy is collapsing under the weight of corporate greed and unregulated risk. We need a real debate about real issues.

According to Media Matters, health care questions represented only 5% of the question asked in the 2008 Primary debates. Health care ranks as the #3 issue Americans care about, and yet it is not being discussed.

Health care costs are emptying American’s pocket books. Every second, nineteen people in this country go into bankruptcy because they can’t pay for the care they need to stay alive and healthy. We’re spending billions to bail out Wall Street, and yet we’re not even talking about health care!

There are clear differences between the way Senators Barack Obama and John McCain would solve our health care crisis. One would guarantee quality, affordable health care for all of us, and one would deregulate the insurance industry, tax your health care benefits, and leave you to obtain private health care on your own. This great country deserves to hear both positions on health care so people can judge for themselves which Senator has a plan that will help them the most.

On October 15th, Barack Obama and John McCain will debate domestic and economic policy. The debate will be hosted by CBS News. Health care must be a priority in this debate!

Can you email Steve Chaggaris, the Political Director at CBS News and ask him to make health care a priority? He’s promised to forward all your emails on to Bob Schieffer, who will be moderating the debate.
